Vintage: 2009: This luscious, savory red is wonderfully round and displays notes of juicy strawberries, black cherries and raspberries on the mid palette caressed by nuances of fresh cut tobacco leaves and light vanilla in the finish. Alcohol Content: 12.85%.
Winemaker’s Notes: Though Tempranillo possesses the ageing ability of Cabernet we chose to mature this wine for a time less than traditional by Spanish standards. The time spent in American oak gives this rustic red a gentle whiff of vanilla. Tempranillo ages beautifully in the barrel and even further in the bottle.
Pairings: Seafood paella, Manchego, Jamon y Chorizo, grilled Portobello mushrooms.
Jerome Winery was John McLoughlin’s first line of handcrafted wines. The wine follows a more traditional way of winemaking, bottled mainly as specific varietal wines. It hearkens back to the family's roots in the business. Family members worked in the vineyard as the first grapevines were planted and harvested by hand. The family photos on the labels honor that tradition of family and independent family businesses.
